Creative/Animation

  • The animation should not contain strobing effects.
  • The creative should not disable fields or functionality on the site.
  • If the creative contains program calls to another site please inform Brand New Media.
  • The creative may not contain program calls or links to an executable file.
  • The creative should not disable browser back buttons or force any plug-ins to be downloaded.
  • A backup GIF must be provided for Flash creative.
  • Creative materials must be provided 5 working days prior to the campaign start date.
  • Newsletter creative cannot be implemented in Flash and are limited to animated gifs or jpeg format. 

Click Implementation

Flash: Where flash files are provided directly to Brand New Media for trafficking, please provide a destination URL and use the following action script to enable click tracking through Double Click:

3rd Party Ad-Servers: Tracking through Double Click is usually achieved by inserting the click tracking macro ‘%c’ at the beginning of the destination URL e.g. “%chttp://www.yourURL.com/”

In some cases, particularly when implementing rich-media creative, your preferred ad-serving platform may have a specific location in which to insert click commands and macros for click tracking on other platforms. Refer to your documentation or account manager for advice.

Rich Media creative must be served through a third-party like Double Click Motif, Eyeblaster, Atlas Solutions or Facilitate Digital. To allow for testing and implementation, it is recommended that the creative materials are set up in the third-party system, and rich media or redirect tags sent to Brand New Media, 5 working days prior to the campaign start date. Start dates for creative supplied later than the recommended lead time cannot be guaranteed.

Expanding Ads

Initiation

Ads may expand by rolling over the ad creative. The expansion should happen immediately on interaction, not confusing the user by delay.

Close

The expansion should close immediately after the user moves the mouse out of the expanded space. A ‘close’ button must also be included and must be located in the expanded area of the ad, appearing immediately on the first full frame of the expanded panel’s animation.

Page Links

When closed, the ad must allow users to click on links on the webpage that would otherwise be covered when the ad has expanded.

Ad Serving

The Brand New Media network delivers all online advertising through the Atlas Solutions platform which is capable of serving rich media creative supplied by most 3rd party ad-serving solutions.

Interaction

If the user interacts with the expanded ad’s form by a mouse click, the ad can stay open to assist filling out a form, watch video, etc. without interruption. Upon interaction the ad will only close by clicking on the compulsory close button or by completing the creative objective (e.g. video completion). Should the user not interact with the ad by mouse click, the ad must behave as a non-form ad and retract immediately on hover off.

Sound

Sound can only be implemented within the animation if it is click-initiated.

Video Ads

Size and Dimensions

Video ads may be executed within any creative size, within an expanding in-page ad or within an OTP. Where a video is executed within an expanding ad or OTP, it must adhere to the creative requirements outlined in the relevant section.

All video must load politely and must include bandwidth detection to deliver video of an appropriate size and quality to the user.

Initiation

The video may start to play automatically, but sound must be muted by default and click initiated by the user. Where a video starts by click initiation, it is accepted and recommended to combine the sound-on and play functionality in a single click action.

Controls

Compulsory controls that must be implemented in all video creative are; start, stop, mute and volume. The inclusion of other control elements may be defined by the advertiser.

Video Ads specifications

Flash creative assets

Default Flash: 39K

Rich Flash (polite download): 100K. This component includes the player frame and any expanding components and must download politely.

Video assets

All video assets must download politely.

Autoplay video: 1MB and 30 seconds

Click initiated Video: 5MB

Video & audio controls

Video ads are required to have at least a stop / pause and an unmute / mute buttons implemented and available throughout the entire length of the animation.

OTP

Area

The OTP (Over-The-Page) can use an area of 500x500 pixels located anywhere within the page or move within the defined 500x500 pixel area.

Initiation

The OTP must initiate immediately after the page has loaded and display for a maximum length of 5 seconds.

Close

The OTP should automatically close after 5 seconds and resolve to a standard ad space or reminder. The OTP should contain a ‘close’ button which closes the OTP and resolves to a standard ad space or reminder

Frequency Capping

Brand New Media will frequency cap the OTP at one impression per user per day. For all other page views, the alternative creative will be displayed.

The animation should be fully opaque and will typically require a background colour.

The animation should not contain strobing effects.

The creative should not disable fields or functionality on the site.

The creative should not disable browser back buttons or force any plug-ins to be downloaded.

OTP Specifications

Animation Area: Up to 500x500 pixels
